HOW TO BREW THE PERFECT CUP
Paper Filters vs. Reusable Filters
PAPER FILTERS: To achieve a smoother cup of coffee, use a paper filter. It
will be most effective in trapping bitter sediments.
REUSABLE FILTERS: For a more robust and full taste, use a reusable filter.
It will allow the coffee's full flavor to fill your cup. Reusable filters have tiny
holes that allow rich coffee oils to brew through.
Water
While it may not seem like an important ingredient, coffee is 98% water.
The type of water that you brew with greatly affects the final taste. Always
use clean, fresh water that is filtered and free of impurities – avoid soft
water or well water.
Cleanliness
A clean coffee maker is essential to brewing great tasting coffee each and
every time. Please refer to the next page for steps on routine cleaning.

ROUTINE CLEANING

Cleaning
Always unplug your HotCup
coffeemaker and allow it to completely cool
TM
before cleaning.
Wash the brew basket, cone basket, drip tray and drip tray cover with
warm water and mild liquid soap. Clean the exterior surface of the
appliance with a damp cloth and then polish with a soft dry cloth.
NOTE: All the removable parts are dishwasher safe except for the drip
tray cover.
Descaling
To ensure safe and efficient operation of your HotCup
important to descale it regularly. The harder your water is, the more
regularly it will need to be done. Your water company should be able to
tell you how hard the water is in your area.
1. In an empty water tank, add a 1 cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of
water. Allow the solution to mix thoroughly.
2. Insert the brew basket into the coffeemaker without a filter or coffee
in it.
3. Place a large cup underneath the brew basket.
4. Run a few brew cycles until the solution reaches the "MIN" mark.
Discard the water in the cup.
5. Refill the water tank to the "MAX" marking with clean water and repeat
the process until the water reaches the "MIN" marking. This will ensure
the entire vinegar solution has cycled through the coffeemaker.
