lowing the operating instructions.
e) If the unit has been dropped or its cabinet has
been damaged.
f) When the unit exhibits a distinct change in per-
formance-this indicates a need for service.
Cleaning
Unplug this unit from the wall outlet before clean-
ing. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use
liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners.
Cleaning discs
Do not use cracked or deformed discs, it can
damage a unit.
Hold the disc by the edges. Do not touch the sur-
face. Dust, scratches or fingerprints on the sur-
face may lead to a failure of the unit.
Protect the disc from direct sunlight; keep them
away from heat sources, high temperature and
moisture.
After usage, put the discs in the case for stor-
age.
Wipe periodically the surface of the discs with a
soft cloth from the center to the edges.

POWER CONNECTION

Line supply
Before connecting the unit, make sure that your
home electricity supply corresponds to the volt-
age specified on the unit.
1. To connect the unit, insert the plug of the
power cord in the corresponding jack (16).
Set the switch (1) in the desired operating
mode.
Note: Static electricity can lead to interfer-
ences in the operation of the unit. In this
case disconnect the unit, and then connect it
again. If the problem does not disappear, ap-
ply to the service center.
2. To switch off the unit, disconnect the power
cord from the power supply.
Note: Set the unit in a way that if necessary you
could easily take the plug out of the socket.
Battery supply
1. Disconnect the cassette recorder.
2. Open the main battery compartment lid (17),
by pressing the catches following the arrow.
3. Insert 8 UM-2/R 14/ C batteries (not sup-
plied) in the battery compartment following
the polarity.
4. Close the battery compartment lid (17).
Note: If the unit operates improperly check the
batteries and replace them if necessary.
Attention!
Use only the batteries of the specified type.
Do not subject them to direct sunlight, heat
sources.
Battery leakage can lead to injuries and dam-
ages of the unit. To avoid damages of batteries
follow the instructions below:
- Place the batteries properly, following the po-
larity marked inside the unit.
- Do not use old and new batteries or batteries
of different types together.
- Take the batteries out if you are not going to
use the unit for a long time.
Connection of the external device (AUX)
To connect an external device, use the AUX IN
jack.
Set the operating modes switch (1) to the "AUX"
position.
Connect the earphone jack on the external unit
