10. Change places of the aiming tool and the light
source and repeat the procedure with the receiver
starting at step 7.
If this is done correctly the sensor pair is now aligned. Continue with step 2 - fine alignment.
Step 2 - Fine alignment reading transmission value
After a first alignment of the process interfaces using the alignment kit, the alignment of the transmitter side should be
completed by monitoring the device transmission value.
To do so mount the sensors onto the process interfaces and then switch on the device. Transmission value can be
checked using the LUI screen on the receiver side (select the respective transmission menu using the up/down arrows)
and/or using the corresponding analog output.
The fine alignment procedure is then as follows:
1. Modify alignment in axis x direction with screws 1 and 2.
First untighten screw 1 and then progressively tighten screw 2 proceeding step by step (only few degrees of rotation at
each steps).
Continue to do so until you find the beam edge (no more transmission).
2. Tighten screw 1 to lock the movement.
3. Mark the corresponding screw adjustments on process interface and screw heads.
4. Then go the opposite direction.
There untighten screw 2 and progressively tighten screw 1 proceeding step by step (only few degrees of rotation at
each steps).
Continue to do so until you find the beam edge (no more transmission).
5. Tighten screw 2 to lock the movement.
6. Mark the corresponding screw adjustments on the process interface.
Thus, the beam diameter along x axis is now determined and corresponding adjustments of screws well known.
7. Tighten screws 1 and 2 to central adjustment using the marks performed at steps 3 and 6.
8. Repeat the same procedure (steps 1 through 7) on y axis (screws 3 and 4).
9. Perform iterative actions by repeating steps 1 through 8 several times until you reach a stable result of the
transmission value.
Having finished this procedure the sensor pair is aligned.
