    In addition to a power injector, the RUGGEDCOM RP110 has a built in serial server, designed to bridge legacy serial devices on to an IP network. It offers a single interface capable of supporting RS422, 485 and 232 protocols, and is protocol aware for certain common serial protocols such as DNP and Modbus.

    Typical Outdoor Installation Mounting the Device The RUGGEDCOM RP110 can be equipped with DIN rail adapters pre-installed on each side of the chassis. The adapters allow the device to be slid onto a standard 35 mm (1.4 in) DIN rail.

    Recommended RS485 Wiring Copper Ethernet Port The RUGGEDCOM RP110 supports a single 10Base-TX copper Ethernet port that allows connection to a standard Category 5 (CAT-5) unshielded twisted-pair (UTP) cables with an RJ-45 male connector. The RJ-45 receptacle is directly connected to the chassis ground on the device and can accept CAT-5 shielded twisted-pair (STP) cables.

    BNC Port This port supports the IRIG-B PWM, PPS and PPx signal formats. Enabling/disabling the port and selecting the signal format is controlled through the RUGGEDCOM RP110 operating system. The number of devices that can be connected to the port is dependent on the cabling type and length, as well as the input impedances of the devices.
