Operating the Device

The etherFAX A2E preserves the traditional user experience while extending the reliability and security of the
etherFAX network to an analog fax device.

Sending Faxes

To send a fax:
1.
Load a fax into the document feeder.
2.
Dial the fax number and send the fax.
The analog fax device connects to the etherFAX A2E via the RJ-11 cable and transmits the fax image. The etherFAX
A2E securely pushes the fax to the etherFAX network, which sends the fax to its final destination.
If the transmission reports are enabled for this device, the device administrator receives the report after the fax is
sent. This report indicates if the transmission was successful or if errors occurred. For information on configuring
transmission reports, refer to Configuring the Device.

Receiving a Fax

When a number on the etherFAX network receives a fax, the etherFAX A2E assigned to that number securely
retrieves the fax image file and transmits it to the local analog fax device. The fax image received by the local fax
device just as it would be if it was connected to a traditional analog fax line. For information on assigning numbers
to an etherFAX A2E, refer to Configuring the Device.
Note:
If the etherFAX A2E does not retrieve faxes from the etherFAX Account Inbox within 15 minutes of
receipt, the associated fax server application on the account, if one exists, downloads the fax.
