Procedure for tensioning the timing belt
The tension wheel and the timing pulley must be
replaced when the timing belt is replaced.
Ensure that the tension wheel lug is correctly
positioned in the groove (A).
Position the RENAULT badge engraved on the
camshaft pulley spokes (A) vertically upwards, fit the
timing belt on the camshaft pulleys then fit the
camshaft pulley locking tool Mot. 1490 (use the timing
cover fasteners to fix Mot. 1490).

Fit the pulley, tightening the mounting bolt using
Mot. 1368 (to a torque of 4.5 daNm for information
only).
