5-2-3. Cleaning the Tape Running Surface of the Upper Drum and Video Heads

Note
The video heads and upper drum are damaged easily. Be careful not to damage them during cleaning.

. Cleaning cloth : 3-184-527-01
. Cleaning fluid : 9-919-573-01

Never use a swab for cleaning.
Procedure
1. Touch the cleaning cloth moistened with cleaning fluid onto the video heads lightly, and rotate the
upper drum counterclockwise to clean.
2. Touch the cleaning cloth moistened with cleaning fluid onto the tape running surface (shaded por-
tion) of the upper drum lightly, and clean the tape running surface in the circumferential direction.

Be sure to rotate the upper drum counterclockwise. In addition, clean the tape running surface in the
circumferential direction. If the upper drum is cleaned in the vertical direction, it may damage the
video heads.
3. After cleaning, wipe the rotary heads using a dry cleaning cloth.
