5-2. Cleaning

5-2-1. General Information for Cleaning Using a Cleaning Cloth

1. Precautions
. Before cleaning, be sure to turn off the main power.
. The blocks in the mechanical deck contain precision parts that have been adjusted precisely. Be careful
not to damage the parts and do not apply excessive force during cleaning.
. Be careful not to touch the greased portions during cleaning. If grease gets on the cleaning cloth,
replace the cloth.
If a greasy cleaning cloth is used, grease may be transferred to the wrong parts.
. Do not insert a cassette tape before the cleaning fluid has evaporated completely.
2. Preparation for Cleaning
(1) Turn off the main power.
(2) Remove the top panel. (Refer to Section 1-5.)

5-2-2. Cleaning Procedure Using Cleaning Cassette Tape

When the video head becomes dirty, clean it as follows.
Be sure to use the specified cleaning cassette tape. If a cleaning cassette tape other than the specified one
is used, the video heads may become worn or damaged.
Specified cleaning cassette tape : BCT-HD12CL
Cleaning procedure
1. Insert the cleaning cassette tape BCT-HD12CL into the opening for cassette tapes.
2. The cassette tape is automatically played back for about three seconds and then ejected.

. If the cleaning cassette tape is not ejected after it has played back for more than three seconds,
press the EJECT button immediately to eject the tape.
. Do not fast forward or rewind the cleaning cassette tape and do not leave the cleaning cassette tape
in the unit in the stopped state.
3. Check to see that the heads are not dirty.
If the heads are still dirty even after using the cleaning cassette tape, clean using a cleaning cloth.
