1.10 Adjusting the carrier unit width
WARNING
Instructions for the qualified workshop if the position of
the support bracket for the relevant vehicle is not set cor-
rectly.
– Fit the carrier unit to the vehicle
just the left-hand side.
– Use a 5-mm hexagon socket wrench to unscrew the hexa-
gon bolts on the right-hand support bracket far enough that
the support bracket can be moved. The carrier unit remains
on the vehicle during this process.
– Adjust the carrier unit as per -arrows A-, so that the rubber
supports for the right-hand lower support bracket -7- sit flush
with the roof rail -arrows B-.
The carrier unit is seated in the correct position if:
◆ The rubber supports for the lower support bracket -7- sit
flush against the roof rail -arrows-.
◆ The pins in the pin links -5- engage in the holes -a- in the
roof rail.
◆ The claw fastener -10- is hooked under the roof rail.
– Tighten the hexagon socket bolt to 10 Nm.
– Repeat the procedure on the other carrier unit.
WARNING
Check that all hexagon bolts have been tightened (to 10
Nm). If these guidelines are not observed, this can result
in the carrier units becoming loose or falling off – risk of
accident!
Do not use the supplied torque wrench (6 Nm).
