Patient Cable Connections
The quality of the ECG is dependent on the preparation and the resistance between the skin
and the electrode. To ensure a good quality ECG and minimise the skin/electrode resistance,
remember the following points:
1.
Ensure that the patient is warm and relaxed.
2.
Shave electrode area before cleaning.
3.
Thoroughly clean the area with alcohol.
4.
Place the C4 electrode first - in the fifth intercostal space on midclavicular line.
