2.1 Automatic Configuration of the Polycom SoundPoint IP 300

Automatic (for distributors) configuration of the Polycom SoundPoint IP300 using DHCP and FTP servers
1.
By factory default DHCP is enabled. It is necessary to have a DHCP server available that will
provide the IP address for the phone.
2.
It is also necessary to have a FTP server available and to place the configuration files that have
been provided by Epygi there in the root path of that server.
3.
The FTP server should grant full permissions for the user "PlcmSpIp" and password "PlcmSpIp".
4.
Connect the phone to the network and power it on (for making a factory reset of the phone it is
necessary to press simultaneously "4","6","8","*" and hold that until the phone requires the
admin password, which is by default "456"; enter the password and press "Enter").
5.
The phone will boot and get its IP address and the IP address of the FTP server via the "option"
66 of the DHCP server (option 66 is "TFTP server name"). It is desirable to have the DHCP
server, phone and FTP server in the same subnet (it is not sure whether it will work with the FTP
server in a different subnet).
6.
Then the phone will automatically download the configuration provided by Epygi from the FTP
server.
7.
The configuration provided by Epygi will contain changes in the dial plan and the default SIP
proxy address is set to 172.30.0.1.
8.
After booting, change the DHCP settings so that the configuration will not bee updated the next
time. This step can be omitted, but then during the start-up every time the phone will try to
reach its configuration FTP server, and will fail to do so. As a result the stored configuration will
stay active. It is preferable to turn off that feature on the phone itself. To do so, the following
should be performed on the phone keypad:
9.
Click the "MENU" button, select "SETTINGS", select "NETWORK CONFIG...", enter the admin
password ("456" by default), select "DHCP Menu...", find "Boot Server", push the "Edit" button
and select the "Change" button until the server type becomes "Static", then press "OK" and exit
the menu.
These were the steps required for the distributors.
2.2 Manual Configuration of the Polycom SoundPoint IP 300 using
a DHCP Server
(For testing purposes or for the user who purchased the phone from a third party).
1.
By factory default DHCP is enabled. It is necessary to have a DHCP server available that will
provide the IP address for the phone.
2.
Connect the phone to the network and power it on (for making a factory reset of the phone it is
necessary to press simultaneously "4","6","8","*" and hold that until the phone requires the
admin password, which is by default "456", enter the password and press "Enter").
3.
The phone will get an IP address assigned and the user needs to know that address. Usually,
during start-up the phone displays its IP address for a short time. The IP address can also be
seen by pressing "Menu", then select "System Status", press "Select", "General" "Select" and the
current IP address of the phone will be displayed.
4.
Use a HTTP web browser, connect to the "Polycom" IP address (Note here that a HTTP server
boots slowly, so it is necessary to wait about 1 minute).
