SCSI Support
The StorTrends 1312 incorporates the LSI Logic (Symbios) 53C896 SCSI chipset. The
LSI Logic 53C896 supports the following functions:
•
Supports single ended and LVD signals
•
Multi Channel. SCSI Channel A and SCSI Channel B each support the following:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Phase Mismatch Handling. The LSI Logic 53C896 can handle phase mismatches
due to drive disconnects without having to interrupt the host processor.
•
64-bit operation
•
8 K scripts RAM for each SCSI channel
•
32-bit ISTAT register
•
JTAG
•
Alternate interrupt routing
•
Duplicate REQ/ACK pair for each SCSI channel
•
Rerouting of scripts RAM Load/Store data

External Connector
connectors located on the back panel. This interface supports:
•
Fast SCSI: Uses an 8-bit bus, but doubles the clock rate to support data rates of 10
MBps.
•
Fast Wide SCSI: Uses a 16-bit bus and supports data rates of 20 MBps.
•
Ultra SCSI: Uses an 8-bit bus, and supports data rates of 20 MBps.
•
Ultra Wide SCSI: Uses a 16-bit bus and supports data rates of 40 MBps. Also called
SCSI-3.
•
Ultra2 SCSI: Uses an 8-bit bus and supports data rates of 40 MBps.
•
Wide Ultra2 SCSI: Uses a 16-bit bus and supports data rates of 80 MBps.
Note:
however, be used. They must be used with an adapter. A large majority of SCSI devices
do not come with an adapter.
