Site Considerations

Theref ore, choose a sit e t hat conf orms t o t he requirement s in t he f ollowing sect ions.
3.1.1

General Considerations

Observe t he f ollowing considerat ions when select ing a locat ion t o inst all t he DSN-1100
st orage syst em.
The locat ion should be f airly cool and dry f or t he accept able t emperat ure and humidit y

ranges.
The locat ion should be f ree of st rong elect romagnet ic f ield generat ors (such as mot ors),

vibrat ion, dust , and direct exposure t o sunlight .
The locat ion must provide suf f icient airf low t o t he f ront and back of t he DSN-1100

st orage syst em f or correct cooling. Vent ilat ion must be suf f icient t o exhaust heat f rom
t he rear of t he equipment .
The locat ion should of f er a power out let wit hin six f eet (1. 82 met ers) of t he DSN-1100

st orage syst em.
The locat ion should allow f or at least six inches (152. 3 mm) of space around t he DSN-

1100 st orage syst em f or vent ilat ion.
Do not place t he DSN-1100 st orage syst em next t o, on t op of f , or below any device t hat

generat es a signif icant amount of heat or will block t he f ee f low of air t hrough t he DSN-
1100 vent ilat ion slot s.

Desktop, Floor or Shelf Installation

The DSN-1100 st orage syst em can be placed on a deskt op, f loor or shelf . Observe t he
f ollowing considerat ions f or inst allat ions.
Select a st urdy, level surf ace t hat can support t he DSN-1100 st orage syst em. A f ully

populat ed unit weighs approximat ely 8. 8 lbs. (4. 0 kg. ).
Allow enough vent ilat ion space bet ween t he DSN-1100 st orage syst em and any ot her

obj ect s in t he vicinit y.
Be sure not t o block t he air vent s on t he f ront and back of t he DSN-1100 st orage syst em

enclosure. Inst all t he cables and power cord according t o t he procedures in t he f ollowing
sect ions.
