3.1 System Configuration

Configuring the system and full diagnostics can only be done by the System Administrator and requires a login
passwo rd . Th e default userna me an d p asswo rd is "admin " . Change th e passwo rd if d esired .

3.2 Network Configuration

Co nfigura tion o f LAN Settin gs
The Iridium Pilot Terminal allows you to configure the following LAN settings, via the web pages when logged
o n as ' a d min ' . These setting s includ e:
• IP Address
• Subn et Mask
• DHCP Server and IP Ad d ress Ran ge to Use
• DNS Forwarding
IP Address
This is the IP address o f th e Iridium Pilot un it as seen from the vessel. Th e facto ry d efault is 192.168 .0 .1 . Yo u
should not change this default unless there is already LAN equipment on the vessel, in which case you must
set this to an unused IP add ress o f sh ip -sid e LAN.
Subnet Mask
This defin es the subnet used o n the vessel. Th e facto ry default is 255.255.2 55.0. Yo u sh ould only change th is
default if you change the IP address of the Iridium Pilot unit. All network devices must use the same subnet in
order to communicate with one another.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server
This auto matic ally pro vid es uniq ue IP add resses an d app ro priate con fig uration parameters to each network
device connected to the Iridium Pilot unit. In the current configuration, DHCP is disabled.
Note: While DHCP is disabled, devices connected to the Iridium Pilot unit will need to have their network
setting s manually configured . Th ere must on ly be o n e DHCP server o n an y netwo rk seg ment. Please see insert
on "how to configure network connections manually with Windows®."
DHCP IP Address minimum and maximum
This sets the range o f IP ad d resses fo r th e DHCP server to use. Th e factory d efault is 192.168.0.2 to
192.1 68.0.2 54. Th e ran ge sp ecifies th e maximu m n umber o f devices o n the n etwork. Both the maximum and
minimum value must be in the same subnet.
