MR500 View
5 Totals And Conditional Access
The behaviour of the totals system in the MR500 View depends on
the option chosen in the Info Menu - Totals Config (See Section 4.9).
This section gives you a brief overview of the way the MR500 View handles totals. It also
shows you how to read the totals and how to reset them. For more information of the totals
systems available on the MR500 View, please refer to Section 6.
5.1 Totals
The MR500 View allows you to record Totals for the user(s) of your vehicle.
This means that you can keep a track on the use of your vehicle, the money earned, distances
travelled etc.
5.2 Conditional Access
If required, the MR500 View will only allow access to its main functions (i.e. Entering HIRED
mode and actually charging a fare) to users who have been given a PIN.
This control on the use of the meter is what we call Conditional Access.
5.3 The Totals Systems
The MR500 View has two totals systems that you can use. Their availability depends on the
settings in your tariff and on the software installed in your unit. However, they are:
Ÿ Basic System: This is the simplest of the options, which allows your MR500 to be used
without any PINs at all (except if you need to reset the totals). The meter just records one
set of totals for you.
Ÿ Log On With PIN: This system records the same totals information as the 'Basic' version.
However, you need to log on to the meter by entering either the Totals PIN or the User PIN
before using it.
This section will firstly explain how the MR500 View deals with totals information in general.
