Introduction This Guide describes how to install Adaptec AUA-2000, AUA-3100LP, AUA-4000A and AUA-5100 adapters in Windows computers. These USB (Universal Serial Bus) adapters are compatible with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 devices and work in virtually any PCI slot. Note: Refer to the Readme file on the CD for operating system support.

Installing the USB2connect Adapter Discharge any static electricity from your body by touching a grounded metal object (such as the exposed metal parts on the back of your computer) before handling the USB2connect adapter. Turn off power to the computer and disconnect the power cord. Open the computer cabinet.

Low-profile computers only– To install the AUA-3100LP adapter in a low-profile computer, replace the existing full-height bracket with the low-profile bracket included in your kit. Remove and replace the bracket attachment screws on the adapter as shown below.

Insert the USB2connect adapter in the PCI expansion slot. Press the adapter firmly into the slot until it clicks into place. Replace the slot cover screw. When installed properly, the adapter should be level with the expansion slot, as shown below. Close the computer cabinet and reattach the power cord.
