SECTION 3 - DISPLAY MESSAGES
With software version C.OPT.05.09.303 (and later), a
second counter is added to accumulate the time that the
"Warning – Low Discharge Superheat Limit" warn-
ing is in effect while the Condenser Refrigerant Level
is less than10% or more than 90%. This safety shut-
down will now also be performed when the when the
new counter has accumulated more than or equal to
10 minutes of low discharge superheat run time with
condenser refrigerant level less than10% or more than
90% within 300 run hours. The chiller can be started
after the COMPRESSOR switch is placed in the Stop-
Reset (O) position. Performing this reset also restarts
the "30 minute out of 300 hour" timer.
OIL – HIGH TEMPERATURE
The oil temperature, as sensed by the Oil Temperature
Thermistor, has increased to more than 170.0º F. The
chiller can be started after the temperature decreases
to less than 170.0º F and the COMPRESSOR switch is
placed in the Stop-Reset (O) position.
OIL – LOW DIFFERENTIAL DISCHARGE OIL
PRESSURE
The Differential Discharge Oil Pressure has decreased
to less than the following threshold for 2 continuous
seconds after the first 3 minutes of compressor opera-
tion: [(evap press/10) +20] PSID with software ver-
sion C.OPT.05.09.303 and later or less than [(evap
pressure/10) +15] PSID with software version
C.OPT.05.08.303 and earlier.
The Differential Oil Pressure is the oil pressure at the
input to the compressor minus the evaporator pressure.
With software version C.MLM.05.06.xxx (and later)
or C.OPT.05.06.xxx (and later), this safety threshold
is not checked while the slide valve is unloading dur-
ing the "Slide Valve Unloading Before Shutdown"
sequence. This avoids nuisance low oil pressure shut-
downs during this sequence. To restart the chiller, press
the COMPRESSOR switch to Stop-Reset (O) position,
then to START position.
OIL OR CONDENSER TRANSDUCER ERROR
The chiller is shut down because the oil pressure was
greater than the (condenser pressure + 20 PSIG) for 10
continuous minutes after the chiller was running for 10
minutes. The condenser pressure in the formula is that
which is measured at the condenser. The oil pressure is
that which is measured at the input to the compressor.
To restart the chiller, press COMPRESSOR switch to
Stop-Reset (O) position.

OIL - CLOGGED FILTER
The chiller is shutdown because the Oil Filter Differ-
ential Pressure (refer to description on the OIL SEP-
ARATOR screen) exceeded the following pressures
for 8 continuous seconds: 25 PSID (software version
C.OPT.05.09.303 and later and C.MLM.05.03.303 and
earlier); 32 PSID (software version C.OPT.05.04.303
to
C.OPT.05.08.303).
C.OPT.05.09.303 and later, this check is bypassed for
the first 3 minutes of chiller run time.
chiller, press COMPRESSOR switch to Stop-Reset (O)
position.
OIL - HIGH PRESSURE
Chiller is shut down because the oil pressure transducer
that is sensing oil pressure at the input to the compres-
sor, indicated 180 PSIG while the chiller was running.
The chiller will be allowed to restart when the pres-
sure decreases to 179 PSIG. This safety shutdown is
provided as a verification of transducer accuracy. Dis-
play of this message is generally indicative of a defec-
tive transducer or interface. To restart the chiller, press
COMPRESSOR switch to Stop-Reset (O) position.
OIL SEPARATOR – LOW LEVEL
(Software version C.OPT.05.08.303 and later)
The chiller has shutdown because the Separator Oil
Level Sensor has detected the oil level remained below
the minimum allowed level for 30 continuous seconds
after the chiller has been running for at least 3 minutes.
The chiller can be started after the COMPRESSOR
switch has been placed in the Stop-Reset (O) position
and enough oil has been added to allow the sensor to
detect sufficient oil level. The Low Separator Oil LED
on the OIL SEPERATOR screen will extinguish when
the sensor detects sufficient oil level.
New production chillers after second quarter 2007 are
equipped with an Oil Level Sensor in the Oil Separator.
For proper oil level detection on chillers equipped with
this sensor, Microboard Program Jumper JP9 must be
positioned properly. For chillers not equipped with this
sensor, if JP9 is not positioned properly, the chiller will
shutdown on this safety each time the chiller is started.
Service Technicians refer to OptiView Control Center

jumper positioning.
