It is recommended to conduct annual instruction and to log this in writing.
The intended target groups are listed at the beginning of every chapter. The instructions
listed in a chapter only pertain to the target groups mentioned. The following target groups
are addressed in these operating instructions:
Trainer
The trainer must be trained on this system and be authorized by Dräger to operate the fire
simulation system. The trainer is very experienced with the training concept underlying the
system. The trainer knows the possible physical procedures or dangers to the system. The
trainer can operate the fire simulation system with a remote control. The trainer instructs
the trainees on the system before beginning the exercise. The trainer must maintain visual
contact with the exercise participants during the entire exercise. Communication with the
exercise participants must be ensured at all times. The location of all persons must be
known during an exercise and taken into account when performing exercises.
Exercise participants and duty of care to exercise participants

Before entering the training system, the exercise participants must be instructed with
safety training, receive instruction for emergency situations, and carry out a safety exer-
cise without fire with the responsible trainer.
Exercise participants are normally fire department personnel or specially trained persons
with comparable knowledge, who take part in the exercises with the fire simulation system
under the instruction of at least 2 trainers.
Exercise participants and trainers are only permitted to use the fire simulation system
with suitable breathing safety equipment (open circuit breathing apparatus or
recirculation systems) and protective clothing in accordance with the local fire
department regulations.
Exercise participants are not permitted to have any piercings, mobile telephones,
pagers and credit cards during the exercises.
When operating the fire simulation system, suitable sanitary equipment must be
present and ready for operation, in particular for rescue service measures for burns
and in emergency heart situations. The training staff must be familiar with the operation
and handling of the sanitary equipment.
During operation at least 2 of the trainers must be present to control the fire simulation
system and to instruct and supervise the trainees. At least one trainer must be present
per training group. At least 2 of the trainers must be able to operate the fire simulation
system safely.
Trainees should be informed of safety precautions, including escape routes, before the
exercise starts.
There must be a permanent and an adequate extinguishing water supply available
during operation of the fire simulation system. Extinguishing water that has already
been used it not permitted to be re-used in exercises for health reasons.
