Use care when loading or unloading the machine into a
trailer or truck.
Use care when approaching blind corners, shrubs, trees,
or other objects that may obscure vision.
Safe Handling of Fuels
To avoid personal injury or property damage, use extreme
care in handling fuel. Fuel is extremely flammable and the
vapors are explosive.
Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and other sources
of ignition.
Use only an approved fuel container.
Never remove fuel cap or add fuel with the engine
running.
Allow engine to cool before refueling.
Never refuel the machine indoors.
Never store the machine or fuel container where there is
an open flame, spark, or pilot light such as on a water
heater or on other appliances.
Never fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck or
trailer bed with a plastic liner. Always place containers on
the ground away from your vehicle before filling.
Remove equipment from the truck or trailer and refuel it
on the ground. If this is not possible, then refuel such
equipment with a portable container, rather than from a
fuel dispenser nozzle.
Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank
or container opening at all times until fueling is complete.
Do not use a nozzle lock open device.
Never overfill fuel tank. Replace fuel cap and tighten
securely.
Rollover Protection System (ROPS)
Safety
Do not remove the ROPS from the machine.
Ensure that the seat belt is attached and that you can
release it quickly in an emergency.
Check carefully for overhead obstructions and do not
contact them.
Keep the ROPS in safe operating condition by thoroughly
inspecting it periodically for damage and keeping all the
mounting fasteners tight.
Replace a damaged ROPS. Do not repair or alter it.
Machines with a Foldable Roll Bar
Always use the seat belt with the roll bar in the raised
position.
The ROPS is an integral safety device. Keep a folding roll
bar in the raised and locked position, and use the seat
belt when operating the machine with the roll bar in the
raised position.
Lower a folding roll bar temporarily only when necessary.
Do not wear the seat belt when the roll bar is folded
down.
Be aware that there is no rollover protection when a
folded roll bar is in the down position.
Check the area that you will be mowing and never fold
down a folding roll bar in areas where there are slopes,
drop-offs, or water.
Slope Safety
Establish your own special procedures and rules for
operating on slopes. These procedures must include a
survey of the site to determine which slopes are safe for
machine operation. Always use common sense and good
judgment when performing this survey.
Slopes are a major factor related to loss-of-control and
tip-over accidents, which can result in severe injury or
death. Operation on all slopes requires extra caution.
Use lower speed while operating on slopes.
Do not turn the machine sharply. Use care when reversing
the machine.
If you feel uneasy on a slope, do not operate on it.
Watch for holes, ruts, bumps, rocks, or other hidden
objects. Uneven terrain could overturn the machine. Tall
grass can hide obstacles.
When operating the machine on a slope, always keep all
cutting units lowered.
Choose low ground speed so you will not have to stop or
shift while on a slope.
Rollover can occur before the tires lose traction.
Avoid operating on wet grass. Tires may lose traction,
regardless if brakes are available and functioning.
Avoid starting, stopping or turning on a slope.
Keep all movement on slopes slow and gradual. Do not
make sudden changes in speed or direction.
Do not operate the machine near drop-offs, ditches,
embankments, or bodies of water. The machine could
suddenly roll over if a wheel goes over the edge or the
edge caves in. Leave a safety area between the machine
and any hazard (2 machine widths).
This machine complies with the industry standard
stability test in the static lateral and longitudinal tests
with the maximum recommended slope indicated on the
decal. It is important that each operator review the slope
operations instructions in the Operator's Manual and review
the conditions in which the machine is being operated
to determine if the machine may be operated in the
conditions that day and on that site. Changes to terrain
can result in a change in slope operation for any machine.
If available, keep cutting units lowered to ground while
operating on slopes. Raising cutting units while operating
on slopes can cause the machine to become unstable.
