Calibration

Your 9629 wire feed control has been precisely
calibrated before shipment - no further calibra-
tion is necessary on receipt of the equipment.
There are two types of calibration routines,
they are:
Initial Calibration
This routine is carried out only if major changes
have been made to the system. Typical reasons
for carrying out this type of calibration would
be:
• A change of the wire feed mechanism gear-
ing to produce a different output speed.
• The integration of the 9629 control with a
third party wire feed mechanism.
In the event that you wish to carry out initial cali-
bration, for the above or for other reasons, you
should contact Jetline for technical support.
There is also a possibility that you could suffer
a total loss of the preset calibration, this is very
unlikely, but could be caused by:
- Failure and subsequent replacement of the
main CPU board.
- Loss of battery power supplying the S-ram (the
system's volatile memory).
- Unauthorized tampering with the system.
To avoid unwanted downtime and cost in the
event of this type of failure, it is recommended
that, on receipt of the control, you call up the
calibration mode and make and store a written
copy of all the calibration values.
Touch-up Calibration
This routine can be carried out on a regular basis
to verify the correct calibration of the wire feeder
and to carry out any small touch-up corrections
which may be desired from time to time.
Prior to carrying out this type of calibration,
make sure that you make a copy of the current
calibration data.
Tools required are a stop watch, tape measure
and calculator.
Procedure
Switch on the 9629 and press the down scroll
touch pad three times until Screen 5, Wire Re-
tract appears. Using the adjust knob, turn the
wire retract time down to 0. (make a note of
the original setting so that you can reset to this
value after completing the calibration routine).
Switch off the control.
Enter the calibration mode of the 9629 by press-
ing and holding both forward and reverse jog
touch pads and at the same time pressing a re-
leasing the power push-button switch. Continue
to press the touch pads until the welcome screen
changes. The first calibration mode screen will
be Screen 17, Closed Loop Mode.
Use the adjust knob to turn the closed loop mode
to Off. Switch off the control.
Switch on the 9629 and, when Screen 2, Wire
Speed appears, use the adjust knob to turn the
wire feed speed to a value close to the maxi-
mum. Run the wire feed by pressing the start
button and, at the same time start the stop watch.
Continue to run the wire for a convenient period
of time (say 30 seconds to obtain a reasonable
length of wire) and, at the end of this time, press
the stop switch to stop the wire feed.
