Troubleshooting & Technical Specifications
Problem: There's no image on the monitor.
Solution: Ensure the power is connected, using the supplied power adaptor.
Check the video cable is correctly attached, at both the monitor and the camera.
Check that the lens cap has been removed from the camera. Double-check that
the monitor is set to the right channel. Try plugging the camera into a different
channel. Check the brightness/contrast settings.
Problem: The image is blurry.
Solution: Check that the camera is in focus by rotating the lens both ways, to
see if the image becomes clearer. Check that the lens is clean. If not, clean with
the corner of a scratch-free cloth, such as those recommended for cleaning LCD
screens.
Problem: The image is too bright or too dark.
Solution: Adjust the brightness/contrast setting. Ensure the cameras have enough
light (if too dark) or are not looking directly into a strong light source (if too light).
The cameras have built in infrared LEDs, the range in low-light conditions or
darkness is limited to approximately 3m/9ft. Objects outside this range will not be
visible at all, and if there's nothing within this range, the screen will simply appear
black.
Problem: The camera cannot see out a window - all I see is white!
Solution: There are six infrared LEDs mounted around the camera lens. If the
camera is placed too near a window, the infrared beams will bounce back, washing
out the image. We do not recommend using the supplied cameras to monitor
outdoor areas.
Problem: The image is not switching.
Solution: Press the channel switch button
Problem: All I hear is a high pitched squeal!
Solution: The camera is mounted too close to the monitor, and the built-in
microphone is picking up sound from the monitor, causing feedback. Try turning
down the volume on the monitor. If this does not satisfactorily fix the problem,
disconnect the white RCA plug from the offending channel.
Problem: The Image is Upside Down
Solution: This will happen when the cameras are mounted upside down to the
ceiling. Unfortunately, there is no way to flip the video signal coming from the
camera. Rather than mounting on the ceiling, we suggest mounting the camera
on the wall as high as possible, so the camera can be upright relative to image
being taken.
