Possible damage to motor and brake • Only SEW-EURODRIVE may perform maintenance on the brake because the en- coder or resolver has to be reset each time the system is disassembled. DANGER The servomotor has live parts during and after operation. -
Page 20: Functional Safety
Certain demands on the mechanical coupling of the encoder system to the motor must be met so that the encoder can be used for safety-related tasks. SEW-EURODRIVE assumes responsibility for the delivered motor with safety-rated en- coder in terms of compliance with the functional safety regulations. Safety-relevant con- nection elements are sealed in order to be able to ensure that the delivery condition is not changed, see following figures. - Page 21 SEW-EURODRIVE to inform the respective customers/operators in the event of product defects. Consistent retraceability by SEW-EURODRIVE is no longer ensured if you perform work on safety-rated encoder system, e.g. if you replace or retrofit encoders. This is why we strongly suggest that you establish your own retraceability procedure and/or to support the SEW-EURODRIVE measures.
