PCM5122/42EVM-U
The PCM5122/42EVM-U is divided into two sections. The left half contains the digital and USB interface,
sample rate conversion, optical/SPDIF and RCA digital inputs, clock circuitry, and reset logic. The right
half contains the PCM5122/42 device and the analog circuitry accompanying it. Note that this half of the
PCM5122/42EVM-U is the portion required on a potential customer application. The left half is intended to
emulate a wide variety of testing options and scenarios for the PCM5122/42 device.
The digital interface section, or left half of the PCM5122/42EVM-U, is a four-layer design. However, the
PCM5122/42 device and analog circuitry, or right half of the EVM board, consists only of two layers.
For the analog circuitry surrounding the PCM5122/42 device, certain components can be removed at the
cost of higher performance. This configurability allows for optimal ratio between board space and
performance. Components such as C1, C3, C7, and C11 can all be removed for additional board space.
