CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Allow all parts of the grill to cool completely before cleaning them.
• The barbecue must be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis. If the barbecue is used
in particularly corrosive environments, e.g. coastal locations, it is vital that it is cleaned
frequently. Otherwise, salt and moisture may cause the protective surface layer of the
barbecue to degrade, creating patches of surface rust.
• When the barbecue is not in use, it must be protected from rain and contaminants by a
barbecue cover. This prevents the barbecue collecting dirt and developing surface rust.
• Before putting the barbecue into long term storage, e.g. over the winter, it must be
thoroughly cleaned, dryed and stored under a barbecue cover in a dry and dust-free
environment.
CLEANING THE BARBECUE GRATE
• Do not use sharp objects to clean the barbecue grate as doing so may damage the grate
surface.
• It is not necessary to clean the barbecue grate after each use. Just remove any residue
with a brush and wipe with paper towels.
• However, the grate should be cleaned thoroughly every now and again. Use water and a
mild detergent. Rinse with clean water and leave to dry.
• Before barbecuing, apply cooking oil to the grate in order to prevent food residues from
sticking.
CLEANING THE BARBECUE
• Remove the barbecue grate and the coal grate.
• Remove the ash.
• Wash the barbecue with water and a mild detergent.
Rinse with clean water and leave to dry.
