Troubleshoot ing Guide

What might appear to be a malfunction in your unit may just be the result of slight misoperation or misw iring. Before
calling service, first check the follow ing table for possible problems.
PROBLEM
The pow er does not turn on.
No sound can be heard, or the
volume is low .
Nothing happens w hen the
buttons are pressed.
The sound quality is poor or
distorted.
Radio reception is poor.
The memory is erased w hen
the ignition is turned off.
The TEL mute function does
not w ork.
The TEL mute function turns on
even though the TEL mute
cable is not connected.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
The fuse has blow n.
No ACC position on vehicle ignition.
The Attenuator function is turned on.
The fader and/or balance settings are set all the w ay to
one side.
The input/output cables or w iring harness are connected
incorrectly.
The computer chip in the unit is not functioning normally.
A speaker cable may be pinched by a screw in the car.
The speakers are not w ired correctly.
The car antenna is not extended.
The antenna control cable is not connected.
The battery cable has not been connected to the proper
terminal.
The ignition and battery cable are incorrectly connected.
The TEL mute cable is not connected properly.
The TEL mute cable is touching a metal part of the car.
After checking for short circuits in the cables, replace the
fuse w ith one having the same rating.
Connect the same cable to the ignition as the battery cable.
Turn off the Attenuator function.
Reset the fader and/or balance settings.
Reconnect the input/output cables and/or the w iring harness
correctly. See the section on "Connecting Cables to
Terminals".
Press the reset button on the unit (see page
Check the speaker w iring.
Reconnect the speaker cables so that each output terminal
is connected to a different speaker.
Pull out the antenna all the w ay.
Connect the cable correctly, referring to the section on
"Connecting Cables to Terminals".

Pull the TEL mute cable aw ay from the metal part of the car.
