Often, what appears to be a malfunction is due to user error, Before calling for
service please consult the following table.
Symptom
The power is not turned on.
Cause
The wiring harness fuse blows.
Remedy
Check cables for shorts, then replace the
Ne sound or sound is low,
The unit does not work
properly when a button is
pressed.
Sound quality is poor. (Sound
distortion}
A casseite cannot be

The cassette is not ejected.
Poor radio reception.
Tape mode is not selected.
The volume level is minimum.

Raise the volume level.
Adjust the fe fader and balance. |
Connect the inputfoutput cable or wiring
harness correctly. See "Connections'
(Page 37).
Use another cassette.
Press the Reset button on the front
panel.
Use the appropriate volume fevel.
Clean the head. See "Head cleaning
(Page 4)'.
Check the speaker cabling.
A, speaker cable is shared.
The cassette is deformed.
The cassette has been inserted
incorrectly.
The cassette is deformed.
The cassette label is coming off.
The car antenna is not extended.
The antenna control cable is net
connected.
No cassette is inserted.

Connect the speaker output connectors
to the separate speaker connectors.
Use another cassette.
Insert the cassette with the tape aperture
on the right.

Remove the label or reattach it properly.
Extend the antenna.
Connect the cable correctly. See

Insert a cassette into the unit.
