Before use
Acclimatise the thermometer to the temperature of the room:
For an accurate reading of a patient's temperature, their body
must first acclimatise to the temperature of the room where the
measurement will be made. The same applies to the infrared
thermometer. When taken somewhere else, it automatically
adjusts itself to the new environment. The thermometer takes a
certain amount of time to equalise its own temperature to that of
the room. This depends on the difference between the two
temperatures and can take more than 30 minutes. Precise
readings can only be taken once this process is completed.
Offset value setting:
In order to receive accurate body temperature readings, the thermo-
meter should be set to a correct offset value before first use.
Therefore you firstly need to measure your body temperature with
a conventional thermometer and afterwards with the Non-contact
infrared thermometer FTG as described in chapter 3.3 Measuring
the body temperature. The difference of the two measurements (off-
set) has to be set as described in chapter 3.2 Settings. If e.g. the first
reading (measured with the conventional thermometer) shows 37°C
and the second reading (measured with the Non-contact infrared
thermometer FTG) shows 36.4°C, the offset to be set is 0.6°C. In
case both readings show exactly the same result, no offset has to be
set (0.0°C).
