6.10.2 To install the flywheel
1. Tighten the nut (A), refer to
7 . Put the piston stop in the spark plug hole and put
the flywheel on the crankshaft.

2. Assemble the ignition module.
3. Put the air gap tool between the flywheel and the
ignition module, refer to
Attach the screws to make sure that the flywheel
aligns with the ignition module.
4. Install in the opposite sequence.

6.11 Ignition system

6.11.1 To remove and install the spark plug
1. Remove the cylinder cover. Refer to
install the air filter cover, the muffler cover and the
cylinder cover on page 14 .
2. Disconnect the spark plug cap from the spark plug.
3. Remove the spark plug.
4. Examine the spark plug. Refer to
spark plug on page 26 .
5. Install in the opposite sequence.

6.11.2 To examine the spark plug
CAUTION: Always use the recommended spark
plug type. Incorrect spark plug type can cause
damage to the product.
• Examine the spark plug if the engine is low on
power, is not easy to start or does not operate
correctly at idle speed.
• To decrease the risk of unwanted material on the
spark plug electrodes, obey these instructions:
a) Make sure that the idle speed is correctly
adjusted.
b) Make sure that the fuel mixture is correct.
c) Make sure that the air filter is clean.
• If the spark plug is dirty, clean it and make sure that
the electrode gap is correct, refer to
on page 44 .
• Replace the spark plug if it is necessary.
6.11.3 To do a spark test
1. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder.
2. Connect the spark plug to the spark plug cap.
3. Make sure that the stop switch on the throttle handle
is in the start position.
4. Hold the spark plug against the cylinder and pull the
starter rope handle. If the ignition operates correctly,
you will see a spark between the electrodes on the
spark plug.
WARNING: To prevent the risk of fire, do
not hold the spark plug near the spark plug
hole.
