CHAPTER 1
GENERAL DESCRIPTION. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The
Gar
electromechanical appliances to be used for manual
welding with coated electrode and T.I.G. procedure.
With single-phase connection, the welding
current is continuously adjusted by magnetic shunt.
The Gar AC/DC models have two welding
working modes:
- A.C. working mode: Alternating welding current
- D.C. working mode: Direct welding current.
The main advantages of this equipment
opposed to traditional alternating current appliances
are the following:
Possibility of welding a wide catalogue of
electrodes in D.C. working mode (basic,
aluminium, bronze) providing high arc stability
and obtaining top quality professional results.
Possibility of welding with T.I.G. procedure in
D.C. working mode.
welding of normal and stainless steels with
thicknesses varying from 0.5-0.8 mm to 2-3
mm.
Possibility of welding with 4 mm diameter
rutile electrode with 160A and 35% operating
factor in A.C. working mode.
This enables professional work to be carried
out with a good operating factor.

The Technical data of the equipment are given on a
characteristics plate which is found on the rear panel
of the machine. Its content is explained in the table
below. You will see that the middle part of the table is
double as the values for both ELECTRODE-TIG
welding procedures are given.
