The values displayed in the multifunction dis‐
play may deviate from those of the tire pres‐
sure gauge as they refer to sea level. At high
altitudes, the tire pressure values indicated
by a pressure gauge are higher than those
shown by the on-board computer. In this
case, do not reduce the tire pressure.
Make sure to observe the following further rela‐

Restarting the tire pressure monitoring sys‐
tem
Requirements:
The recommended tire pressure is correctly

set for the respective operating status on
each of the four wheels (
page 294).

Restart the tire pressure monitoring system in
the following situations:
The tire pressure has changed.

The wheels or tires have been changed or
R
newly installed.

Current warning messages are deleted and
the yellow h warning lamp goes out.
After you have been driving for a few
minutes, the system checks whether the cur‐
rent tire pressures are within the specified
range. The current tire pressures are then
accepted as reference values and monitored.

Tire pressure loss warning system
Function of the tire pressure loss warning
system
The tire pressure loss warning system warns the
driver by means of display messages when there
is a severe tire pressure loss.
After a change in tire pressure, a wheel rotation
or a tire change, or if you have re-installed
wheels or tires, the tire pressure loss warning
system has to be restarted (
page 301).
