Maintaining your Wooden Playhouse Maintaining your playhouse ensures that the pre-painted colour stains will continue to be vibrant and will help maintain the wood strength and quality. It is important to check all fixings regularly to ensure the playhouse is consistently at a safe and secure standard. As with any natural wood, changes and movement can occur, which means that accessories such as handles may need tightening occasionally.

Step1: Ground Preparation (see Diagram 1) Lay out the base with the six notches, slide and the 3m swing bar in the position that you intend the climbing frames to be placed. Ensure the base is good and parallel of any buildings, fences etc.

Step 3: Base assembly (requires heavy lifting, please use at least 3 people) First step will be to position and pack your floor so it is level, and is not sagging or bouncing in any places when someone stands on it. This will be made easier if your ground is flat and fairly level.

Using the 120mm screws, screw through the upright post so as to tighten the top railing to the post Repeat for all the side-rails Step 4a: Making the opening for the downstairs area Using the 1575mm post, cut it to fit tightly into the middle hole you have dug and the bottom of the 4”x4”...

Final step is to secure the top of the railing with 120mm screws, just like the other railings. Step 5: Playhouse Assembly Once the railings are in place it’s time to build the playhouse The playhouse comes in 7 parts; 1 floor, 4 walls and 2 roof pieces ...

Step 6: Swing module assembly Lay the 2 x 3m posts (with the ends cut off at 60 degrees) on a flat surface Place the ends together so that it forms a A-shape Using the 200mm index screws, screw the ends together, so the two posts meet nice and flush on all sides.

Place the ‘o’-hooks supplied through the holes on the remaining 4”x4” post (square on both ends) securing them using the appropriate spanner Now the tricky part. The ‘a’-frame is designed to be at a 10 degree angle (i.e it is not at 90 degrees to the surface).

Step 9: Fireman’s pole Place the fireman’s pole into its position (ensuring that it is parallel to the post). You will see that it will be too tall to attach to the top rail Mark the position that it will go into the ground, which will be the centre of the railing and out the same distance as the turn in the pole itself.

Step 10: Slide and steps The steps might have to be cut or dug into place (depending on the slope of your surface) They are secured using decking screws, stitched through the top of each string into the base of the tower.

Step 12: Concreting structure Using postcrete and following the manufacturers instruction concrete all the posts into the ground The frame should be left overnight before it is used to ensure the postcrete has dried before any movement is put onto the frame, swings etc. The final stage is to put on the accessories, give everything good sand down to avoid the children getting splinters from any cut or rough edges, and also check for any screws sticking out that may need taken back in slightly.
