2. Preparations

Conduct a short test.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove the side trim on the left in the boot.
Remove the rear seat bench and rear seat backrest.
Remove the instrument panel trim at the bottom left.
Remove the footwell trim on the left.
Remove the A pillar trim at the bottom left.
Remove the door sill strip at the front left.
Remove the door sill strip at the rear left.
Remove the console from the handbrake lever.
Remove the ashtray (E36/5 only).
Remove the radio (E36/5 only).
Remove the clock or on-board computer (E36/5 only).
Remove the oddments box in the centre console
(E36/2/3/4/C only).
