Start-up, calibration and operation of the burner

5.1

Notes on safety for the first start-up

The first start-up of the burner must be carried out
by qualified personnel, as indicated in this manual
and in compliance with the standards and regula-
tions of the laws in force.

5.2

Adjustments before first firing (light oil operation)

5.2.1

Combustion head setting

The setting of the combustion head depends exclusively on the
maximum delivery of the burner.
Refer to the page 19.
5.2.2

Pump adjustment

No settings are required for the pump, which is set to 360 PSI by
the manufacturer. This pressure must be checked and adjusted (if
required) after the burner has been ignited.
5.3

Burner calibration

The optimum calibration of the burner requires an analysis of the
flue gases at the boiler outlet.
Adjust successively:
➤ Firing output
➤ Maximum burner output
➤ Minimum burner output
➤ Intermediate outputs between low and high fire
➤ Air pressure switch
5.3.1

Maximum output

On firing turn the selector 29)(Fig. 6, page 10) in "+" position, "in-
crease output" until it stops at app. 130° (cam 1).
Setting must be very near to 130° to exploit as far as possible the-
variable profile cam 2)(Fig. 34).
The setting of the oil delivery must be made on the variable eccen-
tric 7)(Fig. 18, page 18) by turning the screw 6)(Fig. 18, page 18).
The air setting must be made on the variable profile cam 2)(Fig. 34)
after loosening the screws 4) by turning the screws 3).
When the eccentricity is modified, it is necessary to
bring back to MAX ("+") and check the setting again.
The setting must be made on the adjustable profile

Check the correct working of the adjustment, com-
mand and safety devices.
WARNING
The only operation required in this phase is the application of a
pressure gauge on the appropriate pump attachment.
5.2.3

Air damper adjustment

The first time the burner is fired leave the factory setting unchanged
for both low and high fire operation.
5.2.4

Electrode position

Refer to the page 18.

5.3.2

Minimum output

Turn the selector 29)(Fig. 6, page 10) in "-" position, "decrease out-
put" until it stops at app. 20° (cam 3).
Put the slide switch in the MIN ( "-" ) position and set the modulation
minimum using the relative MIN trim potentiometer .
The setting of the oil delivery must be made on the nut and lock-nut
5)(Fig. 18, page 18) and, if necessary, on the variable eccentric
7)(Fig. 18, page 18).
