21 CSA Standard

21.1 Chain Saw Class

This electric powered chain saw is classified according
CSA Z62.1 as a class 2A saw.
21.2 Definition of the Chain Saw Classes according
to CSA Z62.1
– Class 1A: A fuel powered professional chain saw,
intended for use by trained workers, where the operator is
expected to use the chain saw for extended periods of
time on a daily basis
– Class 1B: A fuel powered professional chain saw for tree
service, limited to a dry weight of 4.3 kg (9.5 lb), intended
for use by trained workers, where the operator is expected
to use the chain saw for extended periods of time on a
daily basis
– Class 1C: A fuel powered consumer chain saw, intended
for general use by homeowners, cottagers, campers, etc.,
and for general applications such as clearing, pruning and
cutting firewood
– Class 2A: An electrically powered professional chain saw,
intended for use by trained workers, where the operator is
expected to use the chain saw for extended periods of
time on a daily basis
– Class 2B: A battery powered professional chain saw,
intended for use in tree service work, limited to a weight of
5 kg (11 lb) with battery
– Chain saws according to CAN/CSA-C22.2
No. 60745-2-13: An electrically powered consumer chain
saw, intended for general use by homeowners, cottagers,
campers, etc., and for general applications such as
clearing, pruning, and cutting firewood
