Open the tank cap.
Turn the cap counterclockwise until
N
it can be removed from the tank
opening.
Remove the cap.

Filling up with fuel
Take care not to spill fuel while fueling
and do not overfill the tank.
STIHL recommends you use the STIHL
filler nozzle for fuel (special accessory).
Fill up with fuel.

Close the tank cap.
Place the cap in the opening.

Turn the cap clockwise as far as
N
stop and tighten it down as firmly as
possible by hand.

Stop switch – with settings for Run
and Stop. To switch off the ignition
system, the stop switch (...) must
be pressed – see "Function of the
stop switch and the ignition"

Function of the stop switch and the
ignition
If the stop switch is actuated, the ignition
is switched off and the engine is
switched off. When released, the stop
switch automatically returns to the Run
position: After the engine has stopped,
the ignition is automatically switched on
again in the Run position – the engine is
ready for starting and can be started.
Function of the thumb wheel

The thumb wheel (4) is used to set the
throttle path infinitely between idling and
full throttle and therefore also the engine
speed range:
Turn thumbwheel (4) in – direction:
the throttle path is shorter and the
set maximum engine speed is lower
Turn thumbwheel (4) in + direction:
the throttle path is longer and the set
maximum engine speed is higher
Press the throttle trigger forcefully to
apply full throttle even if limitation
set– the set limitation is maintained–
when the throttle trigger is released,
it is back in the preset range.
