On Board Diagnostics (OBD)

Beginning with your US 2010 compliant
Vehicle, On Board Diagnostics (OBD) is
introduced. This is very similar to the On
Board Diagnostics (OBD) system that has
been required on passenger cars for many
years.
On Board Diagnostics (OBD) is a
system that monitors the functions of
emissions related components and alerts
the vehicle operator to any detected need
for an emission related repair. When the
systems detects a needed repair to an
emissions related component it activates
the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
