Description
Using invasive ventilation with VentStar Carina
ExpV (MP 00 313)
This hose system has an expiratory valve. There-
fore the exhaled gas runs through the expiratory
valve instead of the inspiratory limb when the
device is not operating.
Mask ventilation (Non-invasive

ventilation)

NIV (the mask ventilation)
WARNING
The full-face mask, which covers the entire
nose and mouth or the total-face mask, which
covers the entire face, should not be used on
patients who are uncooperative, obtunded,
unresponsive, or unable to remove the mask.
There is a risk of CO
device failure. Danger for the patient!
In combination with the VentStar Carina LeakV
(MP 00 312) and the full-face mask or the total-face
mask, the user must use a non-vented (non-anti-
asphyxia valve) connector to the mask.
With mask ventilation/non-invasive ventilation
Carina provides a mode which is specifically
designed for non-invasive ventilation with a nose or
face mask. In non-invasive ventilation there are
usually larger leaks than in tube ventilation. For this
reason the automatic leak compensation trigger
recognition is matched to these special condi-
tions. The alarm and monitoring concept calls for
greater attention on the part of the user.
