Running the Power-On Self-Test (POST)

Operator's Guide
The power-on self-test runs every time you set system power on and tests the base system and
memory. The POST takes between 13 and 90 seconds to run, depending on the amount of
memory installed in the system unit. As the POST runs, the amount of memory tested is
displayed on the screen. The number increases until it is equal to the amount of memory
installed.
If
the POST has finished successfully, you will hear one short beep.
1.
Set the controls on your display for maximum brightness and contrast. Refer to the manual
that came with your display if necessary.
2.
Set the display's Power control to On.
Note: If you have a PC Network Adapter installed, a translator unit must be plugged in
and powered On to successfully complete the POST.
3.
Set the system unit's Power switch to On.
As the POST is running, something similar to the following example should be displayed in the
upper-left corner of the screen:
