How This Book Is Organized
This book contains five chapters and a glossary of the terms and abbreviations. The book
contains the following chapters:
Chapter 1. Introducing the IBM 5531 Industrial Computer. This chapter provides a brief
description of the system unit, keyboard, and display. Chapter 1 also shows a typical IBM
Industrial Computer configuration.
Chapter 2. Cabling the IBM 5531 Industrial Computer. This chapter provides step-by-step
instructions for connecting the cables to the system and running the power-on self-test (POST).
Chapter 3. Diskettes and Utilities. This chapter provides information on handling diskettes,
write-protecting diskettes, and inserting and removing diskettes. Chapter 3 also describes the
Thermal Warning program.
