The sash is an adjustable protective plate between the operator and the interior of the fume cupboard. In the
case of a multi-part sash, two or more panels are so arranged that they can be simultaneously operated in the
free opening area of the fume cupboard. The sash is moved manually or electrically by means of ropes.
The handle bar is also mounted on the sash. The sash should generally remain closed, as there is a danger of
contaminants escaping into the breathing zone and the user is not protected against possible spraying out
