To install the system files follow the instructions below:-
1. Insert the OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.1-2 CD-ROM into the local CD-ROM drive.
2. Insert the FORCE 21264 Alpha PCI/ISA SBC ship kit floppy
3. At the console prompt ( >>> ), enter the following command
>>> BOOT –FLAGS 0,80000 device-name,DVA0
where:
device-name is the name of the CD-ROM drive ( for example DKA400)
Accept the default answers to the next several prompts ensuring that any references to
secondary boot media point to DVA0.
4. You will then be booted into the standard OpenVMS Installation Menu where you
can carry out the normal steps for OpenVMS installation.
When the installation completes, select option 8 to shutdown the system.
5. Once you are back at the console prompt you must enter the following boot
command. This will ensure the system files for the FORCE 21264 Alpha PCI/ISA
SBC are installed from the ship kit floppy.
To ensure this, type in the following command
>>> BOOT –FLAGS 0,80000 device-name,DVA0
in this case device-name is the name of the target disk you installed OpenVMS onto
during step 5.
6. Again you will be prompted to enter the name of the secondary boot media - ensure
that this is always referenced as DVA0.
7. The POLYCENTER Software Installation utility will now install the OpenVMS
FORCE 21264 Alpha PCI/ISA SBC boot files onto the system disk..
AUTOGEN will now execute to finalize the installation of OpenVMS
