CHECKING COOLING SYSTEM AND
RADIATOR
CAP
Use
tester
VW
1274
to check the cooling
system for leaks and check operation of high
pressure
valve
in
the
radiator cap.
Checking Cooling System
Test
only
on engine
at
operating
temperature
.
1. Mount tester on coolant expansion
tank
.
2.
Pump
tester
up to
about 1 bar (14 psi)
.
If this
pressure does not decrease within
5
minutes,
the
cooling system is tight,
CHECKING RADIATOR CAP

Mount
radiator cap
on the
tester.
2.
Pump
tester
until high
pressure
valve
in
cap
opens. The high
pressure valve
should
open at 0.9 and
1.15 bar
