6.3

KL register communication

6.3.1

Parameterization of KL terminals

If a KL terminal supports this kind of parameterization, the parameters can be changed via the KL register
communication. The parameters are managed in so-called registers in the terminal.
They can be changed during the startup phase or online during operation.
The available parameters/registers are described in the corresponding terminal documentation. In these
chapters, only the route to the registers via EtherCAT is described.
The following 3 routes are available; all require the coupler as a gateway:
• Change during the EtherCAT startup phase via the coupler's CoE startup list [} 50]
This ensures that the terminal is parameterized correctly and immediately, even after the terminal is
exchanged.
• Change during operation
