4. Setup

4.1. Unpacking the instrument

Take the instrument out of the box and check for damage that may have been
caused during shipment. Please check if any parts listed in the package con-
tent are missing. If parts are missing or damaged, contact MACHEREY-NAGEL
or your responsible distributor.

4.2. Operation with batteries

The PF-12 photometer runs on 4 AA alkali-manganese batteries (included in de-
livery). Rechargeable batteries, e.g. 4 Compit NiMH AA 2500 mAh can be used
in the instrument and are available as accessories (REF 919 221). The charger
and rechargeable batteries need to be ordered separately.
When changing batteries, we recommend to always exchanging the entire set.
The battery compartment is at the bottom of the instrument. To change the bat-
teries,
1. Turn the instrument around and place it on a soft surface.
2. Unscrew the screws of the battery compartment and take of the lid
3. Insert the 4 batteries in the respective slots. Make sure polarity of batteries
and slots match.
4. Put the lid back on, tighten the screws and turn the instrument around.
Only remove the battery compartment when changing batteries!

4.3. Operation with battery pack

The PF-12 can be equipped with an internal battery pack, which can be charged
via the USB port. You can order such a power pack separately and insert it into
the instrument (as of SN: NPF121600). Detailed installation instructions come
with the battery pack.
