Auto Tracking Adjustment
Normally set the AUTO TRACKING button to ON.
When a cassette is inserted and playback starts, the auto tracking
adjustment function works to get the best possible picture automatically.
During the auto tracking adjustment, the A-TR indicator flashes. When
the adjustment is completed, the indicator lights.
The auto tracking also works when the recording mode is changed
during playback or when the distorted portion on the tape is detected.
The auto tracking indicator goes off while the non-recorded portion
of a tape is played back.
Noise lines will appear during auto tracking adjustment. This is not
a failure of the unit.
Manual Tracking Adjustment
When the tape quality is poor, the picture may become clearer by
adjusting the tracking manually.
Press the AUTO TRACKING button to turn off the auto tracking indicator
(manual mode) and keep the AUTO TRACKING button pressed until
the clearest possible picture is obtained.
Note
To change the manual tracking mode to the auto tracking mode, press
the AUTO TRACKING button after 5 seconds or more.

and display window. Normally, select the central position.

Press the VIDEO SYSTEM button to set the color system automatically
or manually.
Normally set the button to AUTO. The "M PAL" and "NTSC" indi-
cators light in the display window when the unit enters the playback
mode. After the unit automatically sets the color system according to the
input signal, the indicator not selected will go out.
M PAL: for the tape recorded with the M-PAL color system
NTSC: for the tape recorded with the NTSC color system
Notes
If a tape recorded with the M-PAL and NTSC color systems is played
back, the picture may become monochrome.
When the unit cannot select the color system automatically depend-
ing on the tape, the M-PAL or NTSC indicator flashes alternately. In
this case, select the color system manually.
During playback in the automatic color system setting mode, the
special playback picture will be monochrome before the color
system is selected or when the color system is erroneously selected.
