LIFERAFT

The liferaft should only be used in extreme emergency.
Such a case would be a fire that is no longer controllable or the imminent sinking of the ship.
The life raft is located starboard at the stern between the hulls in a container. Before you have to abandon the ship
and leave, make an emergency call, and take at least water, a handheld radio and possibly a phone. Everything else is
replaceable, your life is not!
Operation:
Make sure that the leash coming out of the container is also connected to the ship. It must be tied up. If not, connect
the string to a tight knot. Later, the leash is cut off, so it does not matter what the knot looks like. The tabs around the
container do not have to be removed, they are automatically blasted off. Throw the liferaft overboard. Now pull hard on
the leash a few meters until the container pops up and the liferaft inflates itself.
After all the persons are in the life raft, cut off the leash from inside the liferaft, not from the ship! The knive is in the
liferaft. Never hold the liferaft loose without fastening it. Otherwise, it will quickly drain in the sea, maybe even before all
persons are in the liferaft!
Note:
Most fatal accidents involving liferafts happen because the crew abandons the mothership too soon or unnecessarily.
Even a half-sunk or capsized ship has more lift than a liferaft and can be found much better by SAR teams.
Do not leave the ship too early and only in case of emergency!
These are the two main emergencies:
1. The sinking is imminent
2. The ship is burning
