Before removing the RAID adapter:
1. Remove the top cover. See "Remove the top cover" on page 86.
2. Remove any parts and disconnect any cables that might impede your access to the RAID adapter.
3. Record the cable connections on the RAID adapter and then disconnect all cables from the RAID
adapter. For information about the cable routing, see "Internal cable routing" on page 31.
To remove the RAID adapter from the RAID adapter slot on the system board, complete the following steps:

Step 1.
Slide the left-side latch to the unlocked position.
Step 2.
Push and hold the right-side latch in the direction as shown.
Step 3.
Grasp the RAID adapter by its edges and carefully remove it from the RAID adapter slot on the
system board.
If you are instructed to return the old RAID adapter, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are provided.

Install the RAID adapter

Use this information to install the RAID adapter in the RAID adapter slot on the system board.

Ensure that you follow the installation order if you install more than one RAID adapter:
• The RAID adapter slot on the system board
• The PCIe slot 4 on the system board if the serial port module is not installed
• A PCIe slot on the riser card
Note: The following procedure is based on the scenario that the RAID adapter will be installed in the RAID
adapter slot on the system board. For the procedure about installing the RAID adapter in PCIe slot 4 or a
PCIe slot on the riser assembly, see "Install a PCIe adapter" on page 70.
