WARNING!
Machine must be held securely to prevent injury
to operator or damage to machine!
Always anchor machine properly before drilling!
Anchors shall only be used if the material being
drilled has the mechanical strength required to
hold the anchor.
DO NOT use vacuum system to secure machine to
a wall (horizontal drilling) or a ceiling!
Use ONLY anchor bolts to secure the machine to a
wall or ceiling!
For Vacuum Units, verify that Gasket is in good
condition. Do not use if gasket is damaged or not
glued in place!
Monitor vacuum base while applying feed pressure.
Reduce feed pressure if vacuum is in danger of
breaking loose from surface!
Before Locating Machine:
Determine location and size of hole required for the
job. Determine if the hole will be 90 degrees to the
machine mounting surface. If not 90 degrees, ad-
ditional accessory items will need to be purchased
- see "Angle Drilling" later in this document.
Determine if required Bit Size will need "spacer blocks"
to drill (core) the hole. Spacer blocks can be ordered
from spare parts list supplied with this product.
Leveling Machine:
For Vacuum Mounting: Adjust leveling screws upward,
so they do not contact mounting surface. Adjust
downward only enough to eliminate "rocking" of ma-
chine. Overtightening can lift gasket off of ground
and release vacuum.
For Anchor Mounting: Adjust Leveling Screws (F)
to proper height, such that machine is level. Ma-
chine should rest on the four (4) Leveling Screws
(F) and not Base (A). Use a Bubble Level (not sup-
plied) to determine when machine is level.
Secure Machine To Work Surface:
There are several methods available to secure the
drill stand to the working surface: a Vacuum (Combina-
tion) Base, both Single and Dual Vacuum Assemblies,
and Anchor Bolts.
Vacuum (Combination) Base
The drill stand can be ordered with a "Combination Base"
that allows the machine to be secured using either a
vacuum system, or an anchor bolt system.
When configured to use a Vacuum System, the
Combination Base will have a Vacuum Pump mounted
above the base, the Anchor Bolt Slot will be covered
using a "vacuum slot cap", and the base must have an
undamaged gasket in place.
