The legally permissible minimum
tread depth (1.6 mm) has been
reached when the tread has worn
down as far as one of the tread wear
indicators (TWI). Their position is
indicated by markings on the
sidewall.
If there is more wear at the front than
the rear, swap round front wheels and
rear wheels. Ensure that the direction
of rotation of the wheels is the same
as before.
Tyres age, even if they are not used.
We recommend tyre replacement
every 6 years.
Tyre rotation
Tyres should be rotated every
12,000 km to achieve a more uniform
wear of all tyres.
The first rotation is the most
important.
Any time unusual wear is noticed,
rotate the tyres as soon as possible
and check the wheel alignment. Also
check for damaged tyres or wheels.
When rotating the tyres, always use
the correct rotation pattern shown
here. Do not include the spare tyre in
the tyre rotation. Adjust the front and
rear tyres to the recommended

inflation pressure on the Tyre and
Loading Information label after the
tyres have been rotated.
Reset the Tyre Pressure Monitor
System.
Check that all wheel nuts are properly
tightened.
9 Warning
Rust or dirt on a wheel, or on the
parts to which it is fastened, can
cause the wheel nuts to become
loose with time. The wheel could
come off and cause an accident.
When changing a wheel, remove
any rust or dirt from places where
the wheel is attached to the
vehicle. In an emergency, a cloth
or a paper towel can be used;
however, use a scraper or wire
brush later to remove all rust or
dirt.
Lightly coat the centre of the wheel
hub with wheel bearing grease after a
wheel change or tyre rotation to
prevent corrosion or rust build-up. Do
