CHAPTER 1

DS60 Shelf Installation Overview

Adding DS60 expansion shelves to a Data Domain system increases the storage
capacity of the system. The expansion shelves are organized by sets (or chains).
DD4200, DD4500, and DD7200 systems - Attach up to two expansion shelves per

set (chain);
DD6300 - Supports only one DS60 expansion shelf;
l
DD6800 and DD9300 - Attach up to four expansion shelves per set (chain);
l
DD9500 and DD9800 systems - Attach up to four DS60 expansion shelves per set
l
(chain).
For details about maximum shelf counts per system and mixing shelves for different
systems, refer to the information in

on page 26 for shelf configuration restrictions.
Note
Data Domain systems that support the DS60 shelves must be running DD OS 5.7
l
and later.
